Kaltesh


A goddess of fertility who was worshipped in ancient times throughout western Siberia.  She was the consort of the sky god Num, and was often invoked to protect women during childbirth and also to bestow blessings upon the life of the newborn baby.  Her symbol was the birch tree and the animals most sacred to her were teh goose and the hare (two animals symbolic of fertility and procreation).
