Gaia (or Gaea)
A Greek Earth mother and goddess of fertility whose cult was widespread in ancient Greece. She is the personification of the Earth, and in Rome she was worshipped as the goddess Terra. The center of her cult was an oracle at Delphi that predated that of Apollo. In mythology, she was the consort of Uranus and the mother of the Titans, the Furies, and the Cyclopes. Many Wiccans and Neo-Pagans invoke Gaia when planting herbs or casting spells that concern the Earth. Rituals, Earth healings, and libations are often performed in her honor, especially on Earth Day during the Sabbats.
